General Manager - Freight Forwarding

Our client a freight forwarding company based in Essex is looking for a General Manager to join their team in Essex.

Ideal candidates will have previous freight forwarding (Air and Sea) knowledge, min 10 years, together with a proven background in managing a team of freight operators, as well as directing, mentoring and developing staff, including conducting appraisals.

Looking after the running of the department on a daily basis and reporting directly to the Managing Director, applicants will have a 'hands on' approach be experienced in all related documents and freight terminology, ensuring customer satisfaction, managing budgets and performance, and handling customs and international partnerships to deliver timely and efficient global freight services. 

Take responsibility for regional P&L, manage budgets, monitor KPIs, and drive profitability and bottom-line performance. 

Liaise with Internal departments and International partners, suppliers and agents.

This senior role requires strong leadership, commercial acumen, and extensive experience in logistics and supply chain management.
