Background
Police Care UK traces its roots back to 1926 and is the new name for the merged charities Police Dependants’ Trust and The National Police Fund. Our mission is to reduce the impact of harm on police and their families.
Operating from our office in Woking, Surrey, the Charity has been going through a period of change which is transforming us from a traditional benevolent role to one acknowledged as a leader in the blue light sector. We work throughout the UK at the strategic, local, and family level to deliver ground-breaking research and programmes to help our police cope with the traumatic scenes they are exposed to. This includes enabling individuals to access counselling and psychotherapy. Research shows that around 1 in 5 officers are affected by PTSD or CPTSD, many have limited access to appropriate support.
