Fund Controller, Private Equity
Our client is an international private equity firm with $18 billion of assets under management, investing in mid-market companies in a variety of sectors and geographies.
As a Fund Financial Controller, you will play a key role in the management and operations of the assigned funds. Working closely with the Associate Director, you will lead the management of financial operations, maintain accurate books and records, and assist with valuations, investor reporting, ad hoc reporting and regulatory compliance.
- Oversight and control of daily management of a number of private equity funds
- Oversight and control of investment transaction financing (acquisition and realisation)
- Review of complex carried interest and management fee calculations in accordance with fund documentation
- Review of quarterly accounts, partners' capital statements and group reporting
- Monitoring and reporting of covenants for credit facility and servicing of ongoing information requirements
- Review of audited annual financial statements
- Attend to ad hoc investor queries and requests
- Liaise with auditors, lawyers and tax advisors and other teams within the group (London / US / Luxembourg / Jersey Finance, Deal teams, Investor Relation, Group Treasury, Group Reporting, Portfolio Monitoring, etc)
- Investment transaction support as required
- Coordination of the provision of information for tax reporting purposes
- Manage the workload of the team and provide support to the fund finance team junior members
- Improvement of the financial reporting process
- Ad hoc projects (eg system implementation and improvement)
Key Requirements
- ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified
- Good academic record
- Significant experience of PE industry (at least 5-10 years) which is likely to have been obtained as Fund Financial Controller or Senior Fund Accountant in another PE firm. A manager from a Big 4 firm would be considered if a sufficient level of PE experience had been obtained.
- Able to manage and motivate a small tea, alongside another Fund Financial Controller
- Ability to multitask and to work consistently and accurately under pressure
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal)
- Ability to fit into a collegiate, entrepreneurial, investment group and to add clear value at a senior level, whilst also happily adopting a hands-on approach
