Job Description :
Fraud Investigator

Have you ever spotted something unusual on your bank account and felt that rush of panic? The fear of fraud is real — and in that moment, customers need someone who can step in with calm, clarity, and confidence.

As a Fraud Investigator, you’ll play a vital role in protecting customers from financial crime. You’ll combine investigative skills with empathy, working to identify fraudulent activity, minimise harm, and provide reassurance to customers during what can be one of the most stressful experiences they’ll ever face.

This isn’t just a job. It’s a chance to make a genuine difference by uncovering the truth and keeping people safe.

What’s on offer
  • Pay: £13.75 per hour (plus enhanced rates up to £16.81 per hour for certain shifts)
  • Contract: 12-month temporary assignment, with real potential to extend or become permanent
  • Hours: 35 hours per week, scheduled between 12pm – 8pm, Monday to Sunday (including some bank holidays)
  • Start date: 13th October 2025
  • Location: Edinburgh (with hybrid working available after review — typically 6 days per month in office once you’re fully up to speed)
  • Training: First-class training and ongoing support to set you up for success
Your responsibilities
  • Investigate reports of suspected fraud and take swift action to protect customers
  • Analyse account activity using fraud detection tools and systems
  • Gather and assess information to build a clear picture of suspicious activity
  • Reassure customers with empathy while explaining outcomes clearly and professionally
  • Accurately document findings and escalate cases when required
  • Work closely with your team to share insights and strengthen fraud prevention processes
What we’re looking for
  • Previous experience in customer service or investigations (contact centre or phone-based preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and reassuring in high-pressure situations
  • Clear communication skills – both written and verbal
  • A team player with resilience and a proactive approach to tackling fraud

If you’re naturally curious, detail-oriented, and motivated to protect people from fraud, then this Fraud Investigator role could be the perfect fit.
