A newly created Financial Controller role to work in Central London for one of Europe's most ambitious and successful regeneration projects.
We're now looking for an exceptional candidate to join the team as Financial Controller. This is a pivotal role in ensuring strong financial controls and processes across the Group. The position also oversees both the Accounts Payable and Treasury functions.
Financial Controls and Processes
- Overall responsibility for ensuring a robust and effective control environment is in place across all processes
- Understand from first principles the legal, tax, funding, and accounting structure of each entity and key commercial aspects across asset and development management
- Ensure the controls and processes around reporting to internal and external stakeholders are appropriate and scalable - including debt providers, statutory auditors, Investors, HMRC, & others.
- Actively monitor the control environment across the Finance function and ensure the risks, controls and procedures are appropriately documented, well managed, and roles & responsibilities understood, including reporting to senior leadership team including CEO and COO, and to the Risk Management & Governance Committee as required.
- Support the development and ongoing delivery of Risk Management Framework including input to the Risk Management & Governance Committee as required.
- Responsible for managing the external controls review process including proposing the agenda, driving process with internal stakeholders, ensuring findings and recommendations are accurate, and monitoring implementation.
- Ensure the processes and controls in place for the refinancing over the next 1-2 year of £1.5bn of investment loans are robust and are reflected in the wider Risk Management Framework, including the upcoming Ratings process and introduction of a new ongoing financing structure.
- Ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and understood across the Finance team.
Systems
- Lead representative for Group finance team for the introduction of new finance systems being implemented over the next 12-18 months to ensure delivery of a robust and best in class system, with support from third party project team.
- Responsible for ensuring leading and integrated systems are in place to support financial reporting and enable sound commercial decision making.
- Ensure a robust control environment is in place across all finance systems and that roles and responsibilities are clear and actively managed.
- Ensure a process of business partnering is in place with key internal stakeholders and the wider business, to ensure systems are fully utilised, well understood, and knowledge embedded within teams.
- Work with the Finance team and wider business to proactively identify system needs and opportunities, including through innovation and technology.
Accounts Payable & Treasury
- Line management and oversight of the Accounts Payable function.
- Responsible for ensuring delivery of an accurate and robust Accounts Payable function.
- Development and ownership of KPI reporting dashboard to drive best in class function with support from the wider Finance team.
- Promote a culture of business partnering with the wider business to ensure AP systems and processes are clear and well understood.
- Ensure communication is clear with the business and with external suppliers
- Responsible for ensuring clear and accurate cash reporting is in place and Treasury processes are robust ahead.
- Support the FP&A Team to ensure that the timing and quantum of cash payments are clear and that any budget to actual cash flow variances are understood.
- Support the scaling up of liquidity management processes within the team ahead of the upcoming debt refinancing.
Other & Tax
- Responsible for ensuring the Tax processes and risk management are robust and appropriate including for VAT and CIS.
- Support the Tax team with ongoing workstreams ahead of the Annual Business Risk Review session with HMRC.
- Support the senior leadership in driving operational and strategic decisions around financial priorities, skills and resourcing.
