Financial Controller - Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited : Job Details

Your new companyI am delighted to be working with this unique organisation who are seeking to recruit a dynamic and commercially astute Financial Controller. Joining their leadership team, you will work closely with both the on-site Finance Director and Operational Director, whilst supervising a small finance team. Your new roleAs Financial Controller, you will lead and develop a small finance team, overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the business while driving efficiencies and embedding robust financial controls. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will be responsible for:

• Preparing monthly financial reports and reconciliations
• Managing the general ledger and ensuring audit trail compliance
• Producing monthly and quarterly results and balance sheet reviews
• Overseeing payroll, HMRC filings, and inter-company transactions
• Supporting audit preparation
• Leading process improvements and control enhancements
• Mentoring and developing finance team members
• Partnering with senior leadership on strategic projects and financial analysis

What you'll need to succeed

• A recognised accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or finalist with strong experience
• Proven FC experience or experience at Finance Manager level, ideally ready to step up to Financial Controller
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with excellent attention to detail
• Experience working within a values-led, customer-centric environment
