Accountancy Recruit is partnering with an owner managed business that provides products to the construction industry, in the recruitment of a Financial Controller based in Great Yarmouth. The purpose of the role is to lead the finance function to deliver all arears of financial reporting, management accounts, and cash flow forecasting.This is a new role that will initially bring all areas of monthly management reporting in house from the external Accountants, with a view to being involved in various projects including the implementation of new accounting / operational business software.The Financial Controller will be hands on with involvement in month end processes including intercompany transactions and CIS / Tax returns requiring focused attention to detail in this customer focused business.Job Description

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely monthly management accounts and financial statements: balance sheet / P&L.
  • Prepare weekly cash flow reports.
  • Annual financial statements and liaise with the external Accountants.
  • Develop and maintain financial models for forecasting and budgeting.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and inform cost control.
  • Contribute to the growth strategy of the business, improvement of gross profit/operational expenses.
  • Accounting Operations:
  • Oversee all operational accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of accounting processes and systems.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Maintain, and develop internal controls.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and develop accurate financial forecasts.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide regular variance analysis.
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop and manage departmental budgets.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure tax compliance.
  • Team Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance team.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Financial Systems and Process Improvement:
  • Implement and manage financial software and tools.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the finance department.

Requirements & Skills

  • Fully Qualified ACA, CIMA, ACCA, or AAT qualified or Qualified by Experience
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills – written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong Excel knowledge.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Experience of year end audit compliance would be an advantage
