T2M Resourcing have been retained to recruit this Financial Controller for a market leader! With annual sales in excess of £60m, this subsidiary of a major group (with a B2B and B2C customer base) is creating the new role of Financial Controller to ensure that as the business grows that it maintains high levels of financial control, compliance and rigour - developing processes and utilising systems that are 'fit for purpose’ and scalable. We need a qualified accountant with a track record of overseeing the transaction processing ( P2P / O2C) teams who is also technically strong and able meet tight deadlines for monthly reporting and excels at working capital management.

Based close to central Birmingham, this hybrid Financial Controller role (2-3 days per week in the office) is ideal for someone who loves being close to the detail, leading and developing teams and enjoys a continuous improvement culture. The company has a great leadership team who are very supportive but actively encourage ownership and accountability.

Key tasks will include:

  • Leading a developing a finance team that includes transaction finance, management accounts and tax.
  • Driving business process improvement and implementation of automation
  • Owing the month end reporting process - meeting deadlines with accuracy and providing commentary to support the results
  • Responsible for meeting statutory reporting requirements in timely manner and liaising with HMRC as required (e.g. VAT and corporation tax)
  • Ensuring strong internal controls and compliance
  • Working with other senior finance team members e.g. FP&A and Head of Commercial Finance
  • Cashflow forecasting and working capital management

The successful candidate must possess the following skills, qualification and attributes:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Experienced team management and leadership skills with proven ability managing transaction processing teams / shared services
  • A process improvement champion - able to demonstrate how you have implemented automated processes and developing team members in 'new ways of working’
  • Great working capital / cash management ability
  • Able to 'step up’ and support the delivery of projects whilst doing the 'day job’ effectively
  • Excellent communication skills - able to engage and influence team members and the senior leadership team
