The Opportunity

As part of the company’s continued growth, we are seeking a Financial Controller to strengthen the UK finance function. Reporting to the Finance Director, this is a hands on leadership role where you’ll oversee all aspects of financial operations, lead a capable team, and drive continuous improvement across systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the month end close process and produce accurate management accounts
  • Oversee payroll operations and ensure compliance with external providers
  • Manage ledgers and ensure smooth day to day financial operations
  • Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet, and financial commentary for group reporting
  • Ensure tax compliance (VAT, corporation tax)
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and year end audit
  • Develop and implement robust financial controls and policies
  • Lead and develop a high performing finance team
  • Champion process improvements and reporting enhancements

Candidate Profile

We’re looking for a confident, detail-oriented finance leader who brings:

  • A recognised accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA), ideally practice trained
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role within a growing SME
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Excellent analytical and Excel capabilities
  • Experience with outsourced payroll and tight month end deadlines
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with SAP Business One or similar ERP systems
  • A hands on approach and ability to manage multiple priorities
