Financial Controller - MW recruitment : Job Details

A banking institution are looking for a fully qualified accountant with experience in financial services to take responsibility for all financial control activities.

Working within a team of 4 for the wealth management sector the successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks.

Main Duties

Managing day-to-day finance operations with a team of two direct reports

Performing all related accounting functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS and company policy and procedures

Analytical review and analysis of financial data and generating monthly trend reports and balance sheet reconciliations ensuring financial statement accuracy and investigating variances

Monitor and manage financial risks in-line with compliance and regulations

Complete all HMRC filings and returns including corporation taxes and VAT in accordance with tax policy. Adhoc liaison with group tax team and HMRC on enquiries arising

Preparation of formal year end statutory accounts - coordinating annual external audit activities within the business. and liaising with external auditors

Oversight of bank reconciliations and maintenance of cash flow forecasts to ensure funds are available to meet obligations

Business partnering and working collaboratively on projects

Help to drive team’s automation strategy, with huge scope to redesign some existing manual processes, particularly around financial operations

Deputise for Head of Finance as appropriate

Regulatory reporting. Liquidity and capital requirements calculations, analysis and management under ICARA regime

Experience Required

3-5 years experience as a Financial Controller within financial services.

Experience of team management is desirable.

Able to command authority and credibility, who thrives in a cooperative environment, working with people at all levels across multiple functions and disciplines.

Analytical minded and excited by new challenges and creating new processes

Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and meet strict deadlines
