Exciting opportunity to be the Interim Financial Controller of a successful and growing national materials handling business. Immediate / short term start date preferred.

About the role:

We are recruiting for an individual to join and lead the accounts teams as Financial Controller on a 4 to 6 month contract due to the exit of the incumbent during a busy and exciting time in the business’s growth. This role could convert from interim / temporary to permanent, but an immediate start date is an important factor for now.

As the FC, you will be reporting directly into the Board and leading the finance team, as well as interacting with the operations of the business. The finance team currently operates well but due to a number of ongoing exciting and positive developments in the business, the board have decided they need an interim solution with an immediate / very short notice start date. You will have the opportunity to interview for the permanent role when the business commences recruitment for that role.

We are a national materials handling business, operating in capital sales, service and hire. You will be leading a team of 4 clerks, a business analyst and a management accountant.

Job role:

  • Oversee the delivery of accurate, timely and comprehensive reporting of financial information including monthly financial accounts and associated analysis, year-end accounts and consolidation.
  • Produce and present forecasts and budgets to the Board.
  • Manage a monthly cashflow forecast.
  • Manage the accounting functions in the business including invoicing entries, bank reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, journals and bank payments.
  • Effectively manage and control all aspects of working capital including leading monthly debtor and creditor meetings.
  • Liaise and prepare year end information for external auditors.
  • Work with the management of each business to improve KPI reporting and assist management in making better decisions.
  • Day to day operational management of funding relationship (invoice discounting)
  • Ad hoc requirements for ongoing corporate activity ongoing

Experience

  • Qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Displaying the strength of a senior manager, someone who understands how to grow and improve an SME and work with private equity owners.
  • Good knowledge of statutory obligations, tax, VAT and statutory accounts.
  • Understanding of stock management and product supply
  • The commercial aptitude to evaluate and problem solve effectively.
  • Experience with asset financing, including receivables financing.
  • Experience with acquisitions and associated diligence work.

  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • Close attention to detail.
  • Entrepreneurial and able to take ownership.
  • Able to manage responsibility from day 1.

Timing:

Immediate start date preferred.

Salary : 75000 - 90000
