Harmonic are proud to have been engaged by a world-renowned design and events business in their search for a Financial Controller.

The Client

With headquarters across multiple continents and studios in key global cities, the business has delivered thousands of landmark projects worldwide. Their portfolio has surpassed £35bn in value, and they continue to shape some of the most high-profile developments in the UK, Europe, North America and Asia. In the past year alone, revenues have surged by more than 70%, reaching close to $400m in design services, with overall group turnover estimated at around £600m annually.

With projects spanning world-class stadiums, arenas and entertainment venues, this is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Financial Controller to join a business who define industry benchmarks and are known for their innovation and global impact.

The Role

This role has been created to strengthen the finance function as the business continues to grow across the UK, EMEA, and the US. Reporting into the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will oversee all aspects of financial management, driving improvements across reporting, compliance, systems and processes, whilst mentoring and developing a high-performing finance team.

The Financial Controller will work alongside senior stakeholders across the business, including department heads, project managers, and the board, providing strategic insights that underpin decision-making and long-term planning. You'll also take a lead role in optimising financial systems and processes, ensuring best-in-class reporting across multiple regions and currencies.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CFO on annual budgets, reforecasts, and long-term planning
  • Oversee monthly management accounts and group reporting across multiple entities and currencies
  • Lead on statutory reporting and manage smooth year-end audits
  • Deliver timely cash flow forecasts and support cross-regional cash management
  • Monitor project profitability and advise on commercial decisions at a project level
  • Ensure compliance with UK tax requirements and oversee filings across other international regions
  • Improve processes and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy in reporting
  • Support system optimisation and automation projects to futureproof the finance function
  • Manage, coach, and develop the finance team, ensuring delivery of accurate reporting to deadlines
  • Liaise with banks and legal teams on project guarantees and bonding requirements
  • Act as a key business partner, translating financial performance into actionable insight for non-finance stakeholders

What our client would like to see (essential):

  • Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Solid experience in a Financial Controller within a large professional services business
  • Strong UK accounting and tax knowledge, with multi-currency exposure
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders

What we would like to see (non-essential):

  • Exposure to GAAP and international reporting standards
  • Experience liaising with regional tax authorities
  • Passion for design or sport

Location: South London

Salary: £95,000 - £115,000 + bonus + benefits
