Purchasing Officer 
  • Location: Oldham Council. People Services, Children’s Social Care – Fostering and Adoption
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Hourly rate: £16.23 per hour PAYE
  • Length of role: Initial 3 months 

Join our dedicated team in the Children’s Social Care division, focusing on Fostering and Adoption. As a Purchasing Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all financial transactions and purchasing tasks are conducted accurately and timely. This includes managing personal budgets for children with disabilities, payments for foster carers, adoptive parents, and special guardians, as well as payments to service providers.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Administer and deliver the day-to-day financial and purchasing functions for Children’s Social Care services.
  • Set up, maintain, and monitor a range of financial and budget information, analysing statistical and financial data.
  • Undertake standard checks and means testing to ensure that the right individuals are receiving the correct amounts of money.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on financial payments in line with procedures.
  • Reconcile and ensure invoices are paid in a timely manner.
  • Run data reports, identify, analyse, and correct errors.
  • Coordinate and minute finance decision-making panels.
  • Liaise with staff across Children’s Social Care regarding financial procedures for purchasing and assist with accurate record keeping.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to work independently and meet competing deadlines.
  • Experience using a range of computer applications for financial administration.
  • Proven experience in handling financial tasks and processes.
  • Ability to maintain clear and accurate financial and audit records.
  • Flexible team player, able to work at pace with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulations.

Salary : 14.96 - 16.23
