MLC are exclusively partnering with the Electoral Commission, UK’s independent authority overseeing elections and political finance, to appoint an experienced Accounting Technician to join the Financial Control & Reporting (FC&R) team.
This role is an opportunity to work within a respected public body at the forefront of democratic integrity and accountability. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Commission’s financial operations during a period of significant organisational growth and transformation.
The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Financial Control & Reporting, you will:
- Deliver high-quality accounts function that supports effective financial control and reporting
- Provide operational support to the FC&R team and liaise with stakeholders across the Commission
- Assist with the implementation of improved financial processes and systems
- Support year-end processes and statutory reporting requirements
- Contribute to the delivery of the Commission’s 5-year Corporate Plan and financial objectives
About you:
We are seeking a part-qualified finance professional (AAT, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or CIPFA) who brings:
- Experience working within a busy finance team, preferably in the public or not-for-profit sector
- Strong knowledge of the Financial Reporting Manual (FReM), accounting standards, and public body procedures
- A proactive approach to process improvement and stakeholder collaboration
- Confidence engaging with senior management, external auditors, and internal governance structures
- A commitment to public service values and continuous professional development
