Job Description :

A returning client of mine in the FMCG industry is recruiting for a Qualified/Finalist level Financial Accountant for their Head office team. In this role you’ll be responsible for delivering accurate and timely internal and external reporting. Reporting to the Finance Manager, part of your responsibility will be to manage the day-to-day finance function alongside line management of a team of two.

Key responsibilities as Financial Accountant include:

• Responsible for the development of two Cost Centre Analysts• Conducting monthly review of performance and objectives• Provide support where needed to ensure that objectives can be met• Attend relevant manager training courses and implement learning

Month End duties & Cost Centre Reporting• Complete month end close process including the preparation of the monthly accounts, ownership of monthly overhead costs and cost lines relating to areas of ownership• Prepare and process month end journals• Monthly variances analysis of OPEX, including commentary• Responsible for completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigation, and resolution of discrepancies• Reporting monthly results to Group• Take ownership of managing TM1 process to load actuals/forecast to TM1 database for all overhead cost centres• Delivering monthly Cost Centre reports to budget owners in a timely manner• Create tracking sheets for specified Costs (e.g., Training/ Recruitment)• Periodic review of Cost Centres with Budget Holders• Create reports to facilitate the Finance Manager in quarterly review with Directors/Budget Holders• Responsible for production of Budget/Latest Estimate Cost Centre schedules• Responsible for completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations• Ensuring internal controls are operating effectively on day-to-day processes 

IFRS 16• Understand the IFRS 16 calculation and ensure accuracy of reported actuals and forecast.• Take ownership of Lease reporting tool, ensuring all reconciliations are completed in a timely and accurate manner

Compliance Reporting & Year End Audit• Supporting the Finance Manager and working closely with the Tax consultants to provide all information needed to calculate Corporation Tax liability and payment of quarterly instalments in a timely manner• Provide the Tax Consultants all calculations to support the preparation of UK Statutory Accounts• Handle and manage UK & Ireland VAT submissions, ensuring compliance and reviews with External consultant is completed• Take ownership of completing government statutory surveys (National Stats, Intrasat ONS, etc)• Support the Finance Manager with ensuring all year end external audit deliverables are co-ordinated and assisting with ad-hoc projects

Essentials

• Finalist or Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA) with previous Financial Accounting experience• Good knowledge of Excel, experience of accounting systems - SAP, TM1, and Cognos preferable• Experience in managing or training junior staff• Thorough attention to detail and ownership of accurate work delivery• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across both internal and external stakeholders.• Strong organisation skills with the ability to effectively prioritise and create plans to deliver to tight deadlines
