Profile Criteria:
- Part-Qualified, Finalist, Qualified-by-Experience or Fully-Qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) accountant
- Industry experience preferably from the financial services sector (but can be open to profiles outside of financial
services) with current (or previous) experience working in a small
or medium sized business / Finance function
- Well-rounded finance and accounting skillset covering Payroll, VAT, understanding of the General Ledger, assisting with the production of management and statutory accounts, process improvement experience, etc.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Confident / advanced level user of Excel
- Available immediately or on a short notice period (1 month or less)
Summary:
Reporting to and collaborating closely with the Group Financial Controller, this role ensures the efficient running of the Finance department’s day-to-day operations for this growing financial services business and is responsible for core functions, including assistance with the production of the Group’s management accounts and associated MI on a monthly basis, and payroll (as delegated by the Group Financial Controller). In addition, it is the primary liaison between the Finance department and the operational back-office teams of the company, responsible for all aspects of accounts payable and receivable and the management of ad-hoc queries from other teams. It will suit a candidate who is looking for a hands-on role in a supportive team, and someone with a flexible and pro-active approach. The role supervises two Accounts Administrators, who are responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable and expenses. The role is to provide maternity cover for our existing Finance Manager, who goes on maternity leave later this year.
Key Responsibilities:
The Financial Accountant must hold the requisite technical knowledge, experience and qualifications to perform the role effectively. Key functions include:

- Assist with the production of monthly management accounts for each of the Group’s companies, comprising of various entities along with any associated MI, as delegated by the Group Financial Controller
- Management and delivery of monthly payroll, including pension contributions and P11D
- Assist with production of the Group’s consolidated management accounts on a monthly basis, as delegated by the Group Financial Controller
- Adherence to the accounting cycle and associated deadlines at all times
- Management of ad-hoc queries from staff, particularly with regard to payroll and pensions
- Management of bank administration and LLP partner loans
- Management of quarterly VAT returns and regular returns for the FCA
- Supervision of two Accounts Administrators
- Support Group Financial Controller with annual financial audit
In addition, the role is expected to play a supporting role in the:

- Production of annual budgets and YE accounts
- Provision of control against actual and variance reports on a monthly basis
- Delivering of year-end processes and year end accounts packs
- Continuous drive to enhance the operating efficiency, robustness and insightfulness of the team’s outputs, through the adoption of new ways of working, process refinements and the introduction of new systems.
