About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager with a strong background in Teachers’ Payroll and Pensions to join our team on a part-time basis for a 6-month contract. This role is based in the Slough and Windsor area and is ideal for someone who thrives in an educational finance environment and can hit the ground running.

You will be responsible for managing key financial processes, with a particular focus on teachers’ payroll, pensions administration, and financial reporting, while supporting the Financial Controller in maintaining robust financial controls.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll & Pensions:

  • Lead on the preparation and processing of teachers’ payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Administer Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) contributions and compliance.
  • Liaise with external payroll providers and pension administrators.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate payroll and pension records.

Financial Management:

  • Prepare and post payroll journals and other key financial entries.
  • Manage banking operations, including reconciliations and payments.
  • Complete and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC guidelines.
  • Support budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Assist with monthly and termly financial reporting.

Audit & Compliance:

  • Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits.
  • Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
  • Report regularly to the Financial Controller on financial performance and risks.
Candidate Profile:
  • Strong working knowledge of teachers’ payroll and pensions, particularly the TPS.
  • Confident in preparing payroll journals and managing VAT returns.
  • Skilled in using financial systems and Excel for reporting and analysis.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Open to non-qualified or part-qualified finance professionals.
