- Oversee the preparation and delivery of accurate financial reports in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, ensuring all deadlines are consistently met.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to gather relevant data, analyse financial information, and provide insightful commentary on key variances and trends.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes by coordinating activities across finance teams, ensuring completeness and integrity of reported figures.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust controls over financial reporting processes to safeguard data quality and compliance with applicable standards.
- Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders during audits, providing clear explanations of financial results and supporting documentation as required.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function by identifying process enhancements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.
- Mentor junior team members by sharing knowledge, offering guidance on best practices, and fostering an environment of learning and professional development.
- Prepare detailed management reports that inform strategic decision-making at senior levels, presenting complex information in a clear and accessible manner.
- Ensure timely submission of statutory returns and regulatory filings by managing workflows effectively across multiple reporting cycles.
- Contribute to special projects such as system upgrades or policy changes by providing subject matter expertise on financial reporting matters.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Extensive general experience in the insurance industry or experience within a multi-national insurance environment
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards (such as IFRS or UK GAAP) combined with practical experience applying these principles in real-world scenarios.
- Produce, review and present finance data and analytics to senior leadership teams.
- Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to collaborate effectively with colleagues across different functions while building positive relationships based on trust.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously under tight deadlines without compromising quality or compliance requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel along with familiarity using financial systems or enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for data analysis and reporting purposes.
- A track record of supporting audit processes by providing clear documentation, responding promptly to queries, and demonstrating sound judgement when resolving issues.
- Experience mentoring or coaching junior staff members by sharing knowledge generously and encouraging their professional growth within the team environment.
- Strong analytical skills allowing you to interpret complex data sets quickly while communicating findings in an accessible way for non-finance audiences.
- A proactive approach towards identifying process improvements that enhance efficiency or strengthen internal controls over financial reporting activities.
