Finance Officer - Reed : Job Details

Are you a detail-oriented finance professional looking to take ownership of a dynamic and varied finance function? Reed Accountancy are looking for a Finance Officer to join a well-established and growing business in a full-time, permanent role. It’s a fantastic chance to take ownership of a dynamic finance function and make a real impact. Paying a salary of £30K - £34K per annum, depending on experience.This position comes with a high level of responsibility—you’ll take full ownership of the finance function, including preparing the full set of accounts to trial balance level before handing over to external accountants. You’ll be the go-to person for everything from ledger management and payroll to reporting, compliance, and producing high-quality financial insights to support strategic decisions.Company Benefits:

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily financial operations including sales and purchase ledgers, bank reconciliations, and credit control.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, budget vs actual reports, and year-end trial balances.
• Handle payroll processing, pension contributions, and statutory payments (PAYE, NI, RTI).
• Ensure compliance with VAT, tax regulations, and auto-enrolment requirements.
• Produce high-quality financial reports for internal stakeholders.
• Liaise with external accountants for year-end accounts and tax submissions.
• Maintain accurate records of fixed assets, stock, and petty cash.
• Support continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience in a similar finance or accounting role.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• AAT qualified or working towards a relevant finance qualification (desirable).
