Job Location : London, UK
A leading international environmental and conservation-focused organisation is seeking an Interim Finance Officer to support its London-based team for an initial three-month contract. With a pioneering funding model backed by a highly credible philanthropic founder, the organisation supports environmental partners across the globe-from small grassroots groups to established international NGOs-working to tackle some of the world's most pressing biodiversity challenges.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong charity finance experience to play a hands-on role supporting the Finance Manager during a busy year-end period, helping to strengthen processes, keep systems in order, and ensure the organisation remains well-positioned to deliver on its mission.
As the Interim Finance Officer your role will involve:
Processing payments, managing journals in NetSuite, chasing invoices, and carrying out bank reconciliations
Supporting cashflow monitoring and ensuring records are up to date and accurate
Working closely with the Finance Manager to tidy NetSuite ahead of audit and contribute to smooth year-end processes (December year-end)
Assisting with budget preparation and financial housekeeping to ensure everything is in order for year-end review
Taking responsibility for day-to-day bookkeeping tasks and ensuring financial data integrity across the organisation
The ideal Finance Officer will be:
Experienced in charity finance, ideally having worked within the not-for-profit or international development sectors
Confident using NetSuite (this is key), with the ability to pick up system nuances quickly
Solid in their understanding of debits and credits, able to identify when journals are incorrect and flag issues appropriately
Comfortable with transactional finance tasks but also proactive in supporting wider finance priorities
Happy to get stuck in and support the Finance Manager, freeing up time for higher-level work
This role offers a day rate of around £250, depending on experience. Hybrid working is in place, with two days per week expected in the Central London office.
This is a fantastic short-term opportunity (with the possibility of extension or permanency) to join a values-driven, globally-minded organisation and contribute meaningfully to their mission while ensuring financial systems and processes run smoothly at a crucial point in the year.
