Job Description :
  • Annual Salary: £25,600 Per Annum
  • Location: Colchester, Essex
  • Job Type: Part-time (28 hours per week) 

    Day-to-day of the role:

    Finance Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality financial management services.
  • Prepare, develop, and analyse financial and accounting information, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Maintain impeccable accounting records and prepare annual accounts.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Operations Change Manager to enhance financial management and planning systems.
  • Prepare financial reports for funders and assist in strategic presentations.
  • Attend Trustee meetings to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with financial statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and manage financial risks and contribute to the risk register.
  • Stay updated with sector financial developments and changes in charity reporting legislation.
  • Maintain and monitor internal policy documents and procedures, recommending best practices.
  • Liaise with stakeholders including bankers, auditors, and funders.
  • Manage monthly payroll using Xero and oversee the charity Administrator.
  • HR Responsibilities:

  • Track employee leave and attendance and support recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Oversee the implementation and correct usage of our new HR System.
  • Review and update workplace policies and process salaries.
  • Ensure adherence to performance management processes and monitor staff development.
  • Contribute to creating an engaging work culture and handle ad hoc HR administration.
  • Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience managing charity finances to a high professional standard.
  • Operational knowledge of internal financial controls and legal financial requirements for charities.
  • Familiarity with good governance practices and relevant legislative changes.
  • Ability to run financial administrative systems effectively.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a small, effective team and to be open and transparent with colleagues.
  • Credible, trustworthy, with excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ambitious, proactive, and solution-focused, with a desire to grow with the charity through a period of change.
