I am working with a Further Education College based in South West London who are seeking a dedicated Finance Officer to manage the day-to-day Accounts Receivable tasks including treasury, banking and income generation activities.

This role is integral to the financial health of the institution, involving the invoicing of tuition fees, liaising with local authorities, and handling other debtor accounts.

As Finance Officer, successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Finance & Payroll and will play a key role in ensuring a financially sustainable operating environment.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Manage the college bank accounts, ensuring sufficient funds for daily obligations and performing daily bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate cashflow forecasts, informing managers proactively about financing needs.
  • Administer and reconcile student loans, ensuring alignment with the MIS system.
  • Promptly invoice tuition fees and manage fee collections, including direct debits and fee remissions.
  • Oversee the college’s debt recovery process and perform monthly audit checks for tuition fees.
  • Provide advice and support to staff regarding cash transactions and manage debts from students and local authorities.
  • Carry out credit control duties, process reminder letters, and generate monthly statements.
  • Responsible for all bank reconciliations and forecasting year-end invoiceable income.
  • Post general ledger journals and assist with variance analysis and accounts payable duties.
  • Provide banking and reconciliation support during student enrolment periods.
  • Monitor and promptly resolve queries from the generic email inbox.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in Accounts Receivable including the month end process.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and experience with bank reconciliations.
  • Ability to manage cashflow and perform accurate financial forecasting.
  • Experience with debt recovery and credit control processes.
  • Proficiency in using financial software and general ledger systems.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to support and advise staff across the college.

As this is a temporary role initially, you must be available to start work no later than 28th May.

Salary : 18 - 18.66
