Our academy is going into it’s third year of being open and benefits from being a state-of-the-art building. It has been especially designed to deliver a Sixth Form education, including an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics-related subjects.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ordering goods and services on behalf of academy staff
  • Raising purchase requests through Federation financial systems
  • Transmitting purchase orders
  • Processing invoices from suppliers
  • Ensuring approval processes are followed for purchase orders and invoices
  • Monitoring and maintaining purchase orders and invoices through Federation financial systems
  • Verifying unsubmitted invoices
  • Management of student bursaries including collecting applications; reviewing welfare and income documents; managing appeals
  • Transferring invoices to PSF for payment
  • Maintaining journals on PSF
  • Reviewing, paying and keeping records of staff expense claims
  • Maintaining creditor ledgers
  • Processing supplier payments via BACS
  • Making emergency payments when necessary
  • Overseeing use of the academy credit card
  • Managing bank payments including deposits, records and bank reconciliations
  • Managing the academy cheque book
  • Managing and keeping records of academy income through lettings, donations or inter-academy transactions
  • Maintaining the fixed assets register
  • Maintaining the contracts register
  • Liaising with academy budget holders
  • Assisting Finance Business Partner in monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Management of Cashless Catering Systems (with Catering Dept)
  • Engaging with all audit and control reviews, preparing papers and records as required
  • Processing bursary requests and undertaking bursary administration duties
  • Supporting the administration of free school meals
What We are Looking For

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Finance experience in purchase ledger processing and budget management
  • Strong ICT skills
  • The ability to prioritise and set personal targets, including managing different workloads and workflows.
  • The ability to be flexible and adapt to change and increases in academy size.
  • Appreciation of issues of confidentiality
  • Ability to work as team player and to foster good working relationships with a variety of different people in Academy
  • Good telephone manner, email etiquette and presentation of professional image
  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills which indicate a warm, efficient and hospitable manner to all
  • Good levels of numeracy and literacy (at least C in English and Maths GCSE or equivalent)
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines
