FINANCE OFFICER – Belfast

SALARY: £29,777 - £33,945 per annum

EMPLOYMENT: Permanent, full-time, office-based opportunity (open to reduced hours)

Reed Accountancy is partnered with a highly reputable and established client in Belfast in the appointment of a Finance Officer to join their team on a permanent and full-time basis.

This is a varied role, and the successful Finance Officer will provide support to the team in all aspects of Payroll and Finance Administrative support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Calculation and payment of salaries, tax, national insurance, pension contributions.
  • Maintenance of all payroll records.
  • Compilation of monthly and annual returns and completion of payroll reconciliations.
  • Operating various deductions from salaries. 
  • Posting monthly payroll journals to accounting system, operating and reconciling control accounts.
  • Completing claims forms and reconciling claims to income received.
  • Completion and submission of all pension returns.
  • Making timely payment of all payroll deductions.
  • Ensuring payments are made to the HMRC on a timely basis.
  • Submission of monthly RTI’s.
  • Taking receipt of income, counting and banking of monies.
  • Recording of financial information in the relevant books and records.
  • Journal input of financial transactions to the accounting system.
  • Preparation of bank reconciliations and Input of Petty Cash journals.
  • Arrange the collection of all fees and maintain debtor records and following up the collection of unpaid fees.
  • Assisting in the preparation of financial returns.
  • Assisting in the application of grants and fundraising opportunities.
  • Prepare and process timely payments on Banking Online.
  • Preparation of financial returns when necessary.
  • Reconciliation of income received to returns and applications.
  • Produce monthly Aged Creditor report.

 What you need to succeed:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSE’s (grades A-C) or equivalent or higher including Mathematics and English
  • Previous experience working as a Finance Officer, or previous experience of working in a similar finance administrative role.
  • Substantial experience in the use of IT systems including MS office.
  • Payroll processing experience in a medium/large organization.
  • Experience of operating an online payment system.
