Finance Manager

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire

Contract: Full-time, 39.5 hours/week

Type: Office-based

Reports to: Finance & Operations Director

We’re looking for a confident, hands-on Finance Manager to support our Finance & Operations Director and keep our day-to-day operations running smoothly. You’ll lead on key processes across ledgers, monthly reporting and financial controls as well as supporting our finance team on general tasks as needed. working closely with our friendly, fast-paced teams across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

1 Sales Ledger & Revenue Tracking

Track sales and expenditure for key projects

Lead on credit control processes

Support with and monitor sales ledger activity

Bank reconciliation

2 Purchase Ledger & Supplier Management

Manage supplier payments, purchase ledger and monthly expenses

Track supplier costs and identify risks or efficiencies

Manage supplier contract renewals and support on negotiations

Manage building-related expenditure and asset tracking

3 Month-End & Year-End Preparation

Produce and analyse monthly job profitability reports and management accounts

Complete accruals and prepayments

Preparation of year-end accounts

4 Process Improvement & Collaboration

Suggest and implement systems and process improvements

Lead regular finance meetings and follow-up actions

Provide support and guidance to other finance team members and ensure delivery of team goals

Work cross-functionally with teams across operations, commercial, and service delivery

Proactively flag risks and suggest improvements to protect business profitability

5 General Business Support

Liaise with external partners (including IT, suppliers, and advisors)

Take on occasional projects or admin support aligned to finance and operations

Provide client and supplier financial reporting as required

Be a steady, solutions-focused presence in a busy and evolving business

What You’ll Bring

We’re not looking for a specific background, but you will need to bring sound financial experience and a proactive, team-first mindset.

Required Skills & Experience

Previous experience in a finance role covering ledgers, reporting, and month-end and year end processes

Good understanding of financial controls and commercial awareness

Excellent attention to detail and a problem-solving approach

Clear communicator - able to explain numbers to non-finance colleagues

Strong organisational and time-management skills

Comfortable using Office 365 and picking up new systems quickly

Qualifications

AAT (preferred)
