An established provider in the not-for-profit sector is seeking a Finance Manager to join their team in the greater Portsmouth area.Your Role:While in this position your duties may include but will not be limited to:
- Preparing SORP-compliant statutory accounts for audit, as well as managing the audit process
- Producing monthly management accounts, h leading on the annual budget and financial forecasting process, and performing cash flow forecasting
- Processing and authorising purchase invoices in line with financial procedures, managing payment of authorised invoices and ensuring accurate receipt allocation and bookkeeping, as well as raising and chasing invoices and payment requests
- Providing strategic financial advice to the Board of Trustees, CEO, and senior management, leading the organisation’s strategic financial planning, budgeting, and performance monitoring processes
- Identifying and reporting material financial risks and significant developments to the Board and SMT, embedding risk management and strong financial controls at all levels and regularly reviewing and updating financial policies and procedures
- Acting as Company Secretary, supporting the Finance & Audit Committee at meetings and contributing to Board, CEO, and SMT meetings
- Submitting all statutory and regulatory returns, overseeing pension administration, VAT, and tax compliance, as well as acting as the key contact for all financial matters with external stakeholders
- Managing the payroll, ensuring accurate and timely staff payments in accordance with internal procedures
- Leading and developing the finance teams, as well as overseeing the business performance review process to ensure that operational and employee activity aligns to strategic goals
You MUST Have:Please apply ONLY if you meet the following criteria:
- Must be an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant, with excellent post qualified experience in areas such as financial management and annual accounts production
- Demonstrable exposure to Gift Aid, PAYE, Financial reporting and budgeting, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations and VAT calculations and submissions as well as experience working within tight budgets
- Experience in managing audits and liaising with external audit related bodies and professionals
- Proven knowledge in submitting statutory returns
- Good technical knowledge of charity-based accounting, as well as a detailed understanding SORP, charity law and VAT regulations
- Proficient IT skills and use of accounting software
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in written form
