Swift placements are working with a local authority who are seeking a finance manager within the Childrens Services department.
The Finance Manager will contribute to the provision of a comprehensive, professional, financial support service to customers. The Finance Manager will play a critical role in overseeing financial operations, budgeting, and financial reporting specifically for Children Services department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, with a focus on public sector financial management.

Rate of pay: £400-£500 per day depending on experience.
Location: Huddersfield
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage budgets for Children Services programs and initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and funding requirements.
- Monitor and analyse financial performance against budgetary targets, providing regular reports and recommendations to senior management.
- Work closely with Children Services managers and staff to provide financial guidance and support for project planning and implementation.
- Oversee financial transactions and ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and policies.
- Manage grant funding applications and reporting processes, including monitoring expenditure and meeting reporting requirements.
- Conduct financial forecasting and planning to support strategic decision-making within Children Services.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with audit recommendations.
- Implement and maintain robust financial controls and procedures within Children Services.
- Provide leadership and supervision to finance staff within the Children Services finance team.
- Support the development and implementation of financial systems and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- You will be responsible on the performance of managing your team and ensure they deliver to customers.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CCAB) preferred.
- Proven experience in financial management, preferably within a public sector or local government environment.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting principles.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software and systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Knowledge of government funding mechanisms and grant management processes.
- Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and management skills with a focus on team development and collaboration.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and compliance.
- Commitment to upholding financial integrity and transparency in public sector finance.
