Job Description :

Swift Placements are working with a brand-new client based in York, who are seeking a talented and experienced Finance Manager to join their team and contribute to the ongoing success of the business.

The Finance Manager will be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and financial analysis. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

The successful finance manager will be responsible for the payroll, banking and reconciliations, invoicing, ledgers, analysis and reporting, VAT, and budgeting.

Job Summary:

The Finance Manager will oversee all financial activities of the company, ensuring compliance with regulations, accurate financial reporting, and effective financial management. This role will play a crucial part in strategic decision-making processes and will be responsible for providing insightful financial analysis to support business growth and profitability.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Present financial reports to senior management and provide explanations for variances and performance metrics.
  • Oversee all ledger accounts, including raising sales invoices, reconciling supplier accounts and supplier payments.
  • Prepare and process monthly payrolls and holiday entitlements.
  • Administrate the company pension scheme including auto enrolment duties.
  • Assist with staff recruitment, monitor staff absences and holidays.
  • You will line manage the Office/Finance Assistant.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads.
  • Develop financial models and forecasts to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare year end accounts for completion by external accountants.
  • Improve efficiencies and reduce costs.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
  • Develop cash flow forecasting models to predict future cash requirements.
  • Optimise cash management strategies to maximise returns while minimising risk.
  • Prepare and update budgets and monitor cashflow.
  • Reconcile bank accounts.

Financial Analysis:

  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and investment decisions.
  • Evaluate financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and financial insights as requested by senior management.

Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must be ACCA/ CIMA OR AAT Level 4 qualified.
  • Proven experience 5+ years in a finance management role.
  • Must have Payroll processing and VAT returns experience.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in managing and developing a team.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to upholding ethical standards.
  • Confident and professional in dealing with all aspects of financial management.
