Finance Director - Growing Agency - Rigorous financial management and M&A

We’re helping a fast-moving agency find a hands-on Finance Director to join their team. The business is scaling quickly and making acquisitions as part of its growth — so this role is perfect for someone who is commercially savvy, ambitious, and ready to roll up their sleeves.

At the core of the finance function, you will lead a small but effective team, overseeing day-to-day operations while creating an environment built on high performance. Your leadership will extend beyond routine management — partnering closely with the CEO and senior team to shape budgets and forecasts that not only track results but bring clarity to the story behind the numbers.

You will take full ownership of the company’s financial model, continuously refining and evolving it to guide sound, data-informed business decisions. The model serves as a strategic tool, underpinning planning, investment, and debt management, enabling the business to respond confidently to new opportunities.

As a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team, you will help bridge the gap between finance and strategy — translating complex data into actionable insights. Your reporting will need to be clear, timely, and tailored to both board-level and operational audiences, ensuring decision-makers are always well-informed.

Proactive management of cash flow, debt, and funding ensures the business remains financially agile, resilient, and able to invest, maintaining a sharp focus on working capital, and in times of acquisition, you will support due diligence and driving successful post-deal integration.

A continuous improver by nature, you will always seek better ways of working, streamlining systems, introducing automation, or unlocking the power of data, ultimately driving change that makes the business smarter, faster, and more efficient.

What our client is looking for:

• A qualified accountant who’s already worked at CFO, Finance Director, or Head of Finance level in an SME.
• M&A experience is a must.
• Comfortable working with banks and investors. Managing debt is essential.
• Strong Excel skills—You should be confident building robust and accurate financial models from scratch.
• Down-to-earth, proactive, appropriately assertive, and good at building relationships across the business.
• No need to come from an agency background — your skills are what matter most.

Salary: Basic will range from £120,000 to £130,000. Bonus may be included and will be discussed. Benefits will be included.
