We are proud to be supporting our client, a respected and innovative organisation, in their search for a Finance Assistant to join their team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated finance professional with strong Accounts Receivable (AR) skills and a solid grounding in Accounts Payable (AP) to make a real impact in a hands-on, varied role.
You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day transactional finance operations, supporting financial reporting and planning processes, and ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the purchase ledger, including invoice posting (multi-currency: €EUR/£GBP)
- Process supplier onboarding, including documentation and sanctions checks
- Prepare supplier payments, bank transactions, and customer refunds
- Manage the fixed asset register and related postings
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and maintain cash flow analysis
- Complete month-end closure tasks for purchase ledger, cashbook, and bank
- Oversee the sales ledger, including:
- Daily postings and reporting
- Customer account maintenance and credit checks
- Credit control and debt reduction
- Managing accounts through to litigation if necessary
- Prepare month-end journals, prepayments, and accruals
- Support audit preparation and compliance reporting
- Contribute to sustainability and regulatory reporting
- Provide cross-functional finance support as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a fast-paced finance environment
- Strong AR expertise and confident AP knowledge
- AAT Level 3 qualified (or equivalent) with at least 2 years’ experience
- Proficient in Sage 50 and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
- A proactive, resourceful, and solutions-focused mindset
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of responsibilities
- Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle
