Reed are working with a College in the West Midlands and are seeking a dedicated Finance Assistant to join the Finance Team on a temporary ongoing basis. This role involves assisting in the effective management of Purchase and Sales Ledgers and ensuring compliance with the College's financial regulations and procedures. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team, contributing to the financial control environment and supporting various financial operations.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assist with the operation of purchase, sales, and nominal ledgers, ensuring accurate recording of transactions onto the finance system.
- Validate coding and authorisation of transactions in line with financial regulations.
- Contribute to the review and update of policies and procedures within the Finance function.
- Provide accurate and timely financial information to support both internal and external information requirements.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the responsibilities of other Finance Assistants to provide effective cover and support.
- Adhere to and enforce the College’s financial regulations, reporting any non-compliance issues.
- Participate in internal and external meetings as required.
- Assist in training and supporting non-finance staff on financial procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the College's key income and expenditure streams.
- Support the team in achieving its objectives, demonstrating flexibility, resourcefulness, and a continuous improvement approach.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in financial administration or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and accounting procedures.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in the use of financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
