Harmonic are delighted to be partnering with an International Arts and Culture Publication on their search for a Junior Accountant.

The Business

Our client manages an online platform designed to share news specific to the arts and culture industries, keeping creatives and professionals alike in-the-know. Lauded as a major journalistic body in their chosen field, our client partners alongside major museums, events, and luxury brands to showcase new work, provide advertising space, and report on the latest and greatest happenings in the art and culture world.

With a US Based parent company and interests/partners all over the world, you'll have the opportunity to work with major brands and institutions on as global scale.

The Role:

As a Junior Accountant, you'll be responsible for taking on the AP and AR functions of the finance department. Additionally, you'll have opportunities to liaise with clients, support the Finance Manager with ad hoc reporting and analysis tasks. While your main priorities will encompass AP, AR, and reconciliation, you'll have ample opportunities to learn and potentially progress to Management Accountant level as you grow within the role.

The ideal candidate is someone with previous experience as a Finance or Accounts Assistant, ideally within the media, advertising, luxury goods, or any subscription-based businesses. An inquisitive, ambitious candidate who is keen to learn.

This is a hybrid role with at least 2 days in their Central London office.

Responsibilities:

  • Processing invoices and ensuring accurate data entry
  • Chase up overdue invoices, track payments and ensure all information is up to date
  • Performing weekly bank reconciliations and payment runs
  • Managing VAT, expenses, and credit card reconciliations across the group
  • Providing support around month-end and preparing management accounts
  • Acting as point of contact for clients with financial queries
  • Ad hoc projects to support the Finance Manager

What we need to see (essential):

  • At least 2 years in a similar role (with exposure to credit control)
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • A passion for the arts!

What we'd like to see (bonus):

  • Knowledge of Xero or Sage
  • Previous experience in a Media/Creative/Agency/Arts/Subscription/Luxury Goods

Salary: £28,000 - £33,000 + study support

Working Pattern: 2 days in-office, 3 days WFH
