Finance and Treasury Manager

Location - Central London - Cavendish Square

Hours - Full-time 35 hours per week

Permanent Role

Salary - £66,909 per annum with a London Allowance of £5094 per annum

Do you have a recognised CCAB accounting qualification with experience of full year-end audits?

Do you have experience of producing statutory accounts using FRS102 and SORP?

The post holder will ensure that members, staff and other stakeholders understand how governance works in the Company and will work with other team members in Governance as well as other departments to raise the profile of governance and ensure that the key decisions of Client Council and its committees are communicated and are influenced by the views of members.

Responsibilities

  • Project manage UK Council, board and committee elections, appointments and awards, industrial relations ballots; working with colleagues across the organisation to develop project plans, determine timelines, produce implementation plans, and processes for monitoring and reviewing
  • Draft processes, procedures and other key documentation to support Client elections, appointments and awards (such as Fellowships, Awards of Merit and Reps of the Year)
  • Raise the profile, role and significance of governance to members, staff and other stakeholders
  • Develop new ideas and ways of reaching out to all sections of the membership to encourage members from across the nursing workforce to participate in the governance of the College
  • Commission and work in partnership with colleagues across the Company to promote the following:
  • Elections and appointments to Councils, boards and committees
  • Consultations by the Council and its committees on a whole range of governance, professional and trade union issues
  • Awards, such as Fellowships, Honorary Fellowships, Awards of Merit and Representatives of the year
  • Key decisions made by the Council and its committees
  • Changes and developments to the governance structure and ways of working by:
  • Producing marketing and communication plans
  • Writing articles and other copy for web, print and social media channels
  • Providing briefs and specifications to the Communications team for the design, production and printing of governance materials including election documentation and promotional materials
  • Updating governance information on the website using the content management system, and using the bulk email system to send out communications on governance matters
  • Analysing engagement outcomes (eg Voting turnouts) and providing reports to senior management/stakeholders
  • Project manage and coordinate presence at events such as Royal Garden parties, remembrance services, and awards ceremonies, as well as work with the events team to commission and coordinate a number of internal corporate events
  • Line manage the Assistant Member Engagement and Projects Officer
  • Contribute to the development of priorities, forward plans, work programmes, targets, and standards of the Directorate, adhere to agreed systems and procedures, and meet the agreed standards
  • Support other members of the Governance team by identifying opportunities to work with them to promote governance activity, and to contribute to the efficient running of the team by working as an effective team member and covering the work of others during times of annual leave, sickness or other absence, and deputising for other colleagues including the Governance Support Manager as required
  • Undertake occasional hours working to attend committee meetings in the evenings and at weekends, and to attend the Company’s annual week-long Congress and other conferences/events as required
  • Deal with enquiries on governance matters and provide support to other staff to understand and meet the needs of the Council and committees in a better and more timely way
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities in keeping with the function of the role

Skills and Person Specifications

  • Demonstrable experience in accountability for full year-end audits
  • Experience in producing Statutory Accounts using FRS102 and SORP
  • Experience in preparing Group Accounts
  • Experience in Financial Accounting roles
  • Experience in developing, maintaining and evaluating effective control frameworks
  • Experience of direct staff management
  • Experience in giving formal presentations and report writing
  • Preparation of VAT and Corporation tax returns
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, internet and diary software to perform the requirements of the role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present complex financial information to non-financial managers
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent planning and prioritisation skills to ensure team can achieve tight deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to develop and implement new processes and ways of working
  • Willing to work flexibly to meet the reasonable demands of the job
  • Demonstrates continuing professional development
  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays
