We are seeking a Financial Administrator to join the Exchequer Services at Bolton Council. This role is crucial in providing a comprehensive Payroll, Pensions, and Accounts Payable service across the Council. Ideal for candidates who thrive in a busy office environment, the position involves processing data, calculating payments, running reports, and handling enquiries. Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide an efficient and effective help desk service, offering advice, information, and query resolution to employees, customers, and suppliers both verbally and in writing.
- Process various data types including salaries, invoices, credit notes, timesheets, overtime, expenses, bonuses, car mileage, and sickness to ensure timely payments in compliance with current legislation.
- Set up and maintain employee details and new supplier information in databases.
- Support line managers and maintain effective working relationships within the team to ensure responsiveness to customer needs.
- Prioritise workflow, calculate payments and amendments, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
- Analyse data to identify and prevent discrepancies, and process payments including payslips, P60s, and BACs payments.
- Assist with balancing, reconciling, and checking system payments, and support the maintenance and development of manual or digital information systems.
- Undertake general administrative duties, including processing scanning and filing of all processed information, and assist in audit work as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a financial role is advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to follow instructions and work to strict deadlines.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in using financial software and systems is preferred.
