Our client , a groundbreaking European innovator of AI, robotics and Optical sorter technologies for the waste management sector, is looking for a highly motivated Field Service Engineer to continue their expansion in the UK and Europe.

As a trusted partner of waste management organisations you’ll provide  vital on-site and remote technical support to our client’s customers, carrying out day to day monitoring of complex systems, planned maintenance services, reactive unscheduled maintenance, as well as planning a key role in representing the company as the most visible member of the organisation, alongside 2 fellow engineers focused on the EMEA market.

You will travel across the UK and Europe ( France, Italy, Germany and Spain mainly) around 30% of the time and from the London workshop and home the remainder of the time to share on-site feedback with the manufacturing and design team and learn about our client’s new systems.

You should be a determined and hungry problem solver who enjoys finding solutions to electro-mechanical and robotic issues with a keen focus on the customer experience, willing to make a decisive impact on the success and expansion of a company that innovates in a sector that is in its infancy with significant growth prospects , both in their industry and for colleagues who wish to enjoy long-term career growth and development.

Please see below the key responsibilities of the position :

  • Performing scheduled systems monitoring via alerts and dashboards monitoring.
  • Carrying out maintenance during monthly visits to different customer sites across the UK and mainland Europe.
  • Undertaking complex diagnostics using specialist software tools, including pre diagnostics , which involves discussing client issues with them on-site and on on-site testing.
  • Carrying out repairs to a very high standard, ensuring that the systems are repaired and maintained to our client’s standards.
  • Documenting site visit reports.
  • Ordering , packaging and sending tools and spare parts to our client’s customers.

  • Respecting safety procedures and the correct use of personal protective equipment.
  • Collaborating with the team in the UK office and throughout Europe, sharing knowledge and discussing client issues.
  • Contributing to a positive company image maintaining a professional customer-oriented image.

Requirements

  • A degree , HNC or HND/vocational training or relevant work experience in Electrical/Electronics/Electromechanics.
  • Willingness to travel regular throughout the UK and Europe with overnight stays up to 30% of the time and responding to ad-hoc requests to go on-site.
  • Excellent communications skills with clients and colleagues.
  • A valid UK driver’s licence.
  • The position will evolve towards increased remote troubleshooting and diagnostics in the future, so an interest in also working from our client’s central London office and from home in a hybrid work model is essential.

The ‘nice to haves’

  • Experience with control systems.
  • Ability to understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Field Service experience or Technical Support experience involving on-site client communications and diagnostics/problem solving.
  • Experience with Robotics/Optical sorting technologies.
  • Demonstrable customer service experience.
  • Fluency in an additional European language particularly French, German, Italian or Spanish.
