Fibre Engineer - Verus Recruitment Partners : Job Details

Job Title: Fibre EngineerLocation: Field-based across South Yorkshire and Derbyshire (within 1 hour of Sheffield).Salary: £29,000 to £34,000 per annum.Contract: Full-time, permanent.Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00.This is a hands-on fibre role with real backing and a proper setup.We’re supporting a growing network provider as they strengthen their field engineering team. The business builds and maintains its own FTTP network and uses Openreach infrastructure and methodology, so experience in that space will transfer directly.This is not just a cable installation job. You’ll work across network deployment, customer installations and quality assurance. From getting new streets connected to delivering excellent service in customers’ homes, your work will be front and centre.If you’re looking for a long-term move into a business where you’re trusted, equipped and supported, this is well worth a look.What you’ll be doing:

• Installing fibre connections for both underground and overhead routes.
• Carrying out customer installations including internal cabling and splicing.
• Supporting network build projects across the region.
• Splicing and testing using Prysmian joints and fusion equipment.
• Auditing installation quality, fixing defects and helping train junior engineers.
• Working closely with the internal teams to maintain build standards and delivery targets.

What you’ll need:

• At least two years of experience in fibre engineering.
• Strong knowledge of Openreach-style network builds and Prysmian joints.
• Experience with fusion splicing and fibre test equipment.
• NRSWA Street Works Operative Unit 2, SA001 and S008 certification.
• A full UK driving licence held for two years or more.
• The ability to manage your own workload, work safely and stay organised on site.
