Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and provide expert advice on a variety of family law matters, including divorce, TLATA claims, financial relief matters, private children applications, prenuptial agreements, and cohabitation agreements.
- Draft and review legal documents, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships by providing clear and effective communication, understanding client needs, and delivering high-quality legal services.
- Act as a trusted advisor, offering legal guidance and support to clients throughout the legal process.
- Proactively identify opportunities for business growth within the family law department.
- Generate new business through networking, marketing initiatives, and client referrals.
- Facilitate mediations and alternative dispute resolution processes to resolve family law matters amicably whenever possible.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, presenting cases effectively and advocating for clients' interests.
- Maintain accurate and organised case files, documenting all relevant information and correspondence.
- Collaborate with colleagues within the family law department and other practice areas to provide comprehensive legal solutions.
Experience, skills, and knowledge required for the role.
- Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 4 years' PQE
- Strong general knowledge and previous experience in family law matters, including divorce, separation, private financial relief, TLATA claims, private children applications, prenuptial agreements
- A competent negotiator and confident communicator
- Good analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proven track record of consistently meeting deadlines and targets
- A focus on business development and career progression is advantageous
