We have an excavator position available with Holcim UK at Grovebury Quarry.This role is ideal for someone who considers themself to be reliable, proactive and eager to learn.

Rate: up to £20 per hour DEO
Hours: 6:30 am - 4:30pm Monday to Friday
Contract length: 3 month contract
Start: ASAP
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a 9-tonne excavator for excavation, ditching, trenching, and grading tasks within the quarry.
- Utilise a V-ditch bucket for precise drainage, trench shaping, and batter profiling.
- Operate the Ergon swivel/tilt-rotator attachment for enhanced digging angles and material placement in confined or awkward spaces.
- Carry out pre-start checks, daily maintenance, and basic servicing of the excavator and attachments.
- Load and move aggregate, overburden, and other materials as directed by site supervisors.
- Maintain a clean, organised work area, ensuring safe access and egress for all personnel and vehicles.
- Work to quarry production schedules and coordinate with haul truck and plant operators.
- Adhere to all site health, safety, and environmental policies, including dust suppression and noise control measures.
- Conduct visual inspections of work areas for hazards and report any defects or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Record operational hours, fuel use, and maintenance needs in line with Holcim procedures.
- Assist with setting out and grading to specification using laser levels or site engineer guidance.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and ongoing training sessions.
- Follow traffic management plans and operate within quarry haul routes and speed limits.
Essential requirements:
- Experience using a Bucket Swivel Attachment (Essential)
- Strong work ethic and desire to learn
- Ability to work at height
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to conduct manual handling
- Sound IT literacy skills
- Some knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation
