Ensure the timely delivery of all assessments in line with Association of British Dispensing Opticians qualifications, supporting the management, co-ordination and delivery of examinations and assessment processes. Providing advice and guidance to learner, supervisors, employers and training institutes relative to examination processes and requirements and in accordance with governance requirements such as those set by the General Optical Council (GOC) and Ofqual.
The role operates in accordance with regulatory requirements inclusive of GOC and Ofqual and is bound by GDPR. Responsible for registration of learners, fee collection, examination preparation and the accurate and timely recording of results. The role also has oversight of student, supervisor and practice information to ensure learners receive the appropriate levels of support during clinical practice placements. The role holder will make decisions relating to queries e.g. timetable clashes, refund eligibility for examination withdrawals, supervision levels. Decisions outside of the role are referred to the Head of Examinations, the Head of Professional Qualifications or Professional Qualifications Director as required e.g. changes to questions on examination papers.
The role has administrative oversight of theoretical and practical assessors in the course of assessment co-ordination. The role has specialised advisory capability as it has a specific understanding of optical education standards and, for example, provides advice internally when there are changes to standards in the syllabus; IT changes to be implemented

External Relationships • Learners – assessment registration, fees, queries, special consideration applications and general advice and guidance • Supervisors – registration and specific trainee related queries. • Employers – fees, learner progression and general advice and guidance • Training providers – data provision, student relations and assessment registration • Assessors and moderators – payments, timetabling and moderation • Patients – recruitment and management of patient actors for assessment purposes • TestReach – sessional unit bookings and registration of learners within the system • GOC, Ofqual, ESFA and IfATE - providing the necessary data • IT providers – TestReach and EPAPro – assessment delivery and ESFA data reporting Internal Relationships • Head of Examinations – Line manager • Professional Qualifications Director and Head of Professional Qualifications – creation of theory papers, exams timetabling, scheduling, management of assessors, academic queries • Finance – fee collection, debts and contractor payments • Membership – confirmation of data • Communications – examination news updates and general communications • IT – implementation of new processes The role operates in accordance with regulatory requirements inclusive of GOC and Ofqual and is bound by GDPR.
