The role is a full-time position to support the smooth running of our various prestigious school buildings in Kensington.
Core duties include:
- Events support, including classroom and events setup and preparation, which may include catering requirements, welcoming and directing attendees and assisting the teacher’s or event hosts with their requests.
- Adhoc cleaning, to ensure the spaces are always presentable and to identify and promptly address any additional cleaning needs, including events clear out.
- Building maintenance supervision/ Minor repairs: monitoring of defects both pro-actively and in response to the reports of others. Undertaking minor repairs and decoration. This may include dealing with any health and safety issues (spillages, breakages etc), reporting action taken or faults to be rectified as per agreed procedure. Liaison with relevant external contractors.
- Health and safety & Fire Marshal, to promote a safe environment to the premises users and identify and act upon unsafe behaviours such as students running or causing excessive noise levels. Be able to maintain calm and compose in difficult situations and act as first aider and fire marshal by assisting and effectively directing in the unlikely case of an emergency event. Additionally, able to conduct daily checks and maintain accurate records.
- Building Security: Implementation of security procedures for all college buildings, particularly in relation to routine and non-routine opening and closure of college premises. Monitoring of student behaviour in common areas. Prevention of trespassing on college premises. Keep up to date with relevant health and safety requirements (training provided).
- Overall support, assist the team and the building manager with any additional and random tasks that may arise and be required for the college operation.
Work closely with various departments within the school and to support the dedicated reception, building management and boarding teams. Support general school use, specific school events as well as third party hiring of facilities for events and community use.
- Provide a front of house presence when on rota and liaise closely with the reception, registry and school management teams. Be a visible point of contact for visitors.
- Be familiar with fire prevention, evacuation procedures and support the regular compliance work and testing of systems
- Assist on room set-up and other client requirements for pre-booked events. Ensure the rooms are clean and ready in the configuration requested.
- Undertake routine checks of facilities in the building to make sure they are clean and presentable. Report any maintenance issues to management or resolve independently
- Whilst covering events ensure you make the most of time being proactive on the routine roles and that rooms are ready for their next use.
- Ensure the building meets high standards of cleanliness at all times and that activities undertaken are a positive contributor to the school brand.
- Have a keen eye for cost savings and minimise wastage and environmental impact of the building and activities within.
