Senior Structural & Architectural Steel EstimatorBasildon | £60,000 - £70,000 DOE

An experienced Senior Structural & Architectural Steel Estimator is required to lead an estimating team, working on a wide variety of projects across commercial, residential, and specialist sectors. This role offers the chance to take ownership of the estimating process on high-value steelwork projects and support the growth of an established business.

The Role

• Lead the estimating function for structural and architectural steel projects.

• Review specifications, drawings, and requirements to prepare accurate cost estimates for labour, materials, and equipment.

• Allocate and monitor quotes across the estimating team, ensuring deadlines are achieved.

• Mentor junior estimators and encourage continuous improvement.

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to align requirements.

• Prepare and submit detailed, competitive bid proposals.

• Keep updated on market trends, material costs, and fabrication methods.

• Contribute to contract negotiations and procurement planning.

The Ideal Candidate

• At least 10 years' experience in steel estimating, covering both structural and architectural projects.

• Strong technical knowledge of steel components, fabrication processes, and construction methodologies.

• Proficiency with estimating software and tools such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Excel.

• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.

• Strong leadership ability with experience mentoring a team.

• Confident communication skills and the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
