Estimator - Groundworks & Residential ConstructionLocation: Norwich (Head Office)Salary: £45,000-£55,000 per annum (DOE)Hours: Full-time, 41.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday)We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading groundworks and civil engineering company, who are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Estimator to join their Head Office team in Norwich. This role reports to the Lead Estimator and supports both the Production and Commercial Departments, playing a key part in the company's commercial operations.This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious candidate with strong organisational skills, excellent IT proficiency, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. You'll be confident on the phone, calm under pressure, and proactive about developing your knowledge and career within a supportive team.Key ResponsibilitiesEstimate work value from site visits, architectural drawings, and specificationsMaintain a comprehensive database of cost information for planning purposesObtain budget quotations and guide prices for specialist worksSupport the Small Works Team and residential construction projectsUndertake manual and digital take-offs from drawings for roads, sewers, foundations, and external worksResearch costs for materials, transport, labour, and equipmentBuild and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliersObtain and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors within required timeframesPrepare and submit quotations and cost analysis to the Lead EstimatorInterpret architectural and engineering drawings and reportsUse Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook in daily operationsQualificationsEssential:GCSE Grades A-C / 5-9 in Maths, English, and ICTDesirable:Recognised Civils/Engineering/Construction qualification (HND/HNC or higher - training available for the right candidate)Skills & ExperienceEssential:Strong IT skills, particularly Word, Excel, and OutlookExcellent verbal and written communication skillsSelf-motivated and able to manage own workloadExcellent attention to detail and organisational skillsCalm under pressure with the ability to multitaskStrong numerical ability and methodical problem-solving approachWillingness to learn, develop, and support team goalsAble to work independently and collaborativelyDesirable:Previous experience in groundworks or residential constructionFamiliarity with construction materials, techniques, and processesExperience working from technical drawings and documentsExposure to commercial estimating processesExperience managing supplier or client relationshipsBenefitsCompetitive salary: £45,000-£55,000 per annum (DOE)Full-time, 41.5 hours per week28 days annual leave (including Bank Holidays)Company Pension SchemePrivate Healthcare CoverEmployee Assistance Programme (EAP)Free on-site parkingWhy Apply?This is an exciting opportunity to join a company that values accuracy, professionalism, and career development.
