Estates Officer (Temporary)Location: Basingstoke - Covering North HampshireContract: Temporary - 3 monthsHours: 37 hours per week, Monday to FridayPay: £14.00 per hour Our client is looking for a motivated and customer-focused Estates Officer to support neighbourhood services on a temporary basis. In this role, you'll help deliver safe, attractive, and well-maintained estates while providing a responsive and high-quality service to residents. Key responsibilities
- Carry out estate inspections to identify repairs, risks, and improvements
- Engage with residents through door knocks to arrange gas and electrical safety checks
- Support fire risk assessments, ensuring communal areas are safe and compliant
- Raise and coordinate repairs, including fly-tipping, bin store issues, and general maintenance
- Keep customers informed and updated, providing excellent service at every stage
- Work closely with colleagues across ASB, Gas, Fire Safety, and Grounds & Estates teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement and promote digital communication with residents

- Confident in face-to-face interactions (e.g. doorstep conversations)
- Able to communicate clearly and respectfully with a diverse range of residents
Attention to Detail
- Able to spot repairs, hazards, or breaches in communal areas
- Comfortable completing electronic checklists or inspection forms accurately
Problem Solving & Initiative
- Able to identify issues and take appropriate action (e.g., raising repairs, escalating concerns)
- Comfortable working independently across estates
IT & Reporting
- Basic digital skills to log inspections, raise repairs, or update records
Physical Mobility
- Comfortable with walking estates, climbing stairs, and outdoor work in all weather conditions
Essential requirements
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use (mileage paid)
- Ability to work flexibly and independently
- Offers are subject to a satisfactory basic DBS check
Desirable criteria
- Awareness of the social housing sector
- Knowledge of estate or property maintenance
