Enviroment & Sustainability Officer - Reed : Job Details

Location: Essex OfficeContract: 12-Month Fixed TermSalary: Up to £35,000 (depending on experience)

Are you passionate about sustainability and ready to make a meaningful impact? I'm currently supporting a leading infrastructure contractor with a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK. They are seeking a proactive Environment & Sustainability Advisorto drive carbon reduction, ensure environmental compliance, and embed best practices across their operations.

• Implement carbon reduction strategies across multiple projects.
• Monitor and analyse environmental and sustainability data.
• Present performance reports (e.g. carbon footprint, waste statistics) in client meetings.
• Develop and deliver sustainability training and policies across the business.
• Support environmental audits (e.g. ISO 14001, PAS 2080) and manage site inspections and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure proper handling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
• Oversee COSHH assessments and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
• Assist the Bid Writer with bid submissions and tender processes.
• Support onboarding and evaluation of subcontractors and suppliers.

Essential:

• Degree or equivalent experience in environmental or sustainability-related fields.
• Proven experience in a similar role.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of environmental legislation within the construction industry.
• Waste management experience or certification.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage across all levels.
• Passion for sustainability and driving cultural change.
• Willingness to travel to sites and client meetings.
