Role SummaryWe are seeking an Enterprise Architect to join our team, bringing a strong foundation in both enterprise architecture governance and enterprise data principles. This position is pivotal in shaping and maintaining the architecture framework that supports our organisation's strategic objectives, ensuring robust governance processes are in place and that data remains a trusted asset across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will possess broad experience across all aspects of enterprise architecture, with demonstrated expertise in the design, implementation, and oversight of architecture governance practices. In addition, they should have a solid background in enterprise data architecture, enabling them to align technology solutions with business needs and enhance the value of data throughout the organisation. This position involves strategic planning, working collaboratively with others, and influencing architecture standards and guidelines. It also includes supporting cross-functional teams in providing scalable and sustainable technology solutions. Key ResponsibilitiesArchitecture enablement and Governance

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance the enterprise architecture framework, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives and regulatory standards.
  • Support and improve architecture governance processes and tools and participate in forums like the Architecture Review Board (ARB) to aid decision-making and ensure compliance with standards and best practices.
  • Advise and support project teams on architectural design, solution selection, and implementation, promoting scalable and sustainable technology solutions.
  • Maintain and contribute to enterprise-wide knowledge repositories and architecture artifacts, fostering knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including solution architects, data engineers, business analysts, Security, Compliance, and platform teams, to define and implement data architecture strategies and roadmaps that drive business growth and operational efficiency.
Enterprise Data Architecture
  • Support the creation and maintenance of reference architectures and integration patterns for data movement, consumption, and interoperability.
  • Design scalable solutions across structured and unstructured data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Azure Data Fabric, Azure Data Lake, SharePoint).
  • Integrate data governance and quality by embedding metadata management, lineage tracking, access controls, retention policies, and data quality standards across the enterprise.
  • Enhance data discoverability, compliance, and stewardship by integrating with metadata platforms (e.g., Collibra, Purview) and collaborating with Data Governance and Risk teams.
  • Stay current with emerging data technologies and industry trends, contributing thought leadership within internal and external forums to ensure Barings' architecture remains forward-looking and competitive.
  • Architect robust data platforms to enable advanced analytics and AI, supporting the deployment of models and pipelines.
  • Work with AI/ML innovation labs and business teams to ensure data architectures support model training pipelines, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agent-based frameworks, and analytics use cases.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in data architecture, enterprise architecture, Architecture and Design Governance, or related roles.
  • Expertise in:
    • Cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, Databricks)
    • Data integration and messaging (e.g., Azure APIM, Service Bus, Azure Data Factory, REST APIs)
    • Metadata and governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Purview)
    • Data Visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI)
    • Data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical)
    • Enterprise architecture tools (e.g., Ardoq)
  • Familiarity with financial services data domains (e.g., investments, origination, research, client onboarding) and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in Architecture and Design governance processes, tooling and integrations in large organisations while working with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to contribute to enterprise data strategies, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and deliver high-quality architectural artifacts.
  • Understanding of data product and data mesh patterns to support decentralized ownership with enterprise-wide interoperability.
  • Knowledge of architectural frameworks (TOGAF, DAMA-DMBOK), modern architecture styles (microservices, data mesh), and agile delivery methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and business audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AI/ML platforms and architectures (e.g., Azure AI, OpenAI, vector databases, RAG pipelines).
  • Background in asset management, private credit, or institutional investment operations.
