School Overview: We are a vibrant and welcoming secondary school in Preston, seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join our team for the full academic year starting in September 2024. This position is a maternity cover role. Our school is easily accessible by public transport and conveniently located near major roads.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering engaging and effective English lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Planning and preparing lessons and teaching materials in line with the curriculum.
  • Assessing, tracking, and reporting on student progress and attainment.
  • Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student engagement and achievement.
  • Supporting students' individual learning needs and providing extra assistance where necessary.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop and share best practices and resources.
  • Participating in departmental meetings, parent evenings, and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant qualifications in English or a related field.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Experience working in a school setting or with children.
  • Valid and contactable professional references.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
