Our client, a leading manufacturer based in West Yorkshire, is looking to appoint a Hands-On Engineering Manager to lead and develop their in-house engineering and maintenance team. This is a day-shift role, ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys both leadership and practical involvement on the shop floor.
You will play a key role in driving engineering excellence, introducing new systems and tools, and embedding lean methodologies to enhance efficiency and reliability across the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, support, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering and maintenance team.
- Ensure high uptime and equipment reliability through effective TPM and PPM practices.
- Deliver continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and TPM methodologies.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental standards.
- Manage the engineering budget, including planning and execution of capital expenditure projects.
- Recruit, onboard, and train engineering staff to support growth and capability development.
- Be hands-on when needed-supporting fault-finding, diagnostics, and coaching on best practices.
Skills & Experience Required:
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, OEE, and SPC tools.
- Hands-on engineering background with experience managing maintenance operations.
- Experience implementing and managing a CMMS.
- Proven track record in leading engineering teams within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a leadership style that inspires and motivates.
