An exciting opportunity has arisen with a well-established, independent fire and security company serving London and the South East. They are seeking a technically strong Engineering Manager to join their growing team.
This mainly office-based role (with hybrid flexibility) will see you supporting both strategic and day-to-day operations. You’ll act as the go-to for technical queries from engineers and clients, while overseeing jobs, projects, and team performance.
Ideal for a Senior Engineer with experience across fire and security systems who’s ready to step off the tools and into management—or someone ready to take that next step.
Engineering Manager Role and Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Company Owner, assisting in the overall management of the business.
- Manage and support a team of field engineers and office staff.
- Act as the technical point of contact for complex faults and issues that require escalation.
- Oversee both the service and projects departments.
- Provide quotations and assist with technical commissioning where necessary.
- Liaise directly with clients and conduct occasional site visits.
- Ensure delivery of high standards across fire and security installations and maintenance.
- Oversee all installation, servicing, and fault resolution activities within the company.
- Provide technical support and guidance to engineering staff in the field.
- Enhance operational systems, processes, and best practices
Engineering Manager Skills and Experience Required
- Proven experience in a similar Engineering Manager or Senior Engineer role within the fire and security industry
- Strong technical knowledge of fire alarm, intruder alarm, CCTV, and access control systems
- Previous experience managing and supporting a team of engineers, ideally within a service and project environment
- Ability to act as a senior technical escalation point for complex system issues
- Comfortable producing quotations and assisting with project planning and delivery
- Strong communication and client-facing skills with the ability to manage customer expectations
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and industry compliance standards (e.g. BAFE, NSI, FIA)
- Organised, proactive, and capable of improving operational processes and working practices
- Full UK driving licence or equivalent required
