We are seeking an experienced Engineer - BSIP Passenger Infrastructure - Engineering & Surveying to deliver highways and/or water management schemes within an operational programme for a Local Authority. This role will see you manage a caseload of projects and inspections, from scheme identification through to delivery, ensuring works are implemented within budget and timescales.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and progress a portfolio of technical infrastructure projects/inspections.
- Lead on scheme identification, preparation of funding bids, design, contract documentation, and cost estimates.
- Analyse service area data and make recommendations for operational improvements.
- Supervise and support team members to improve service outcomes.
- Represent the Council at public meetings, providing clear technical information.
- Liaise effectively with contractors, partners, colleagues, and the public.
- Maintain accurate project and inspection records in line with information-sharing protocols and record-keeping policies.
Person Specification
- Level 4+ qualification or equivalent experience in a related technical discipline.
- Approved professional qualification (e.g. EngTech) or extensive practical highways/drainage experience.
- Knowledge of technical standards, legislation, and safe working practices in highways/water management.
- Experience supervising and supporting colleagues in project delivery.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information confidently to varied audiences.
- Valid driving licence and access to transport (or suitable alternative).
