Job Description :

On behalf of our client, a global banking institution, we are seeking a highly experienced Employee Relations and HR Policy Director to lead the Employee Relations (ER) team. This pivotal role requires providing expert guidance on disciplinary, grievance, and policy matters while ensuring that HR policies remain competitive and progressive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert guidance and support to HR Business Partners and business leaders on disciplinary, grievance, and policy adherence.
  • Ensure HR policies are up-to-date and progressive, supporting cultural transformation and maintaining competitiveness.
  • Coordinate whistleblowing requests and other ER matters, with potential EMEA knowledge required.
  • Lead committees that require reporting on Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), legal matters, and challenges to employee handbooks.
  • Handle cases involving sanctions and comply with various regulatory reporting requirements, including conduct rules breach committees.
  • Write relevant papers and reports as needed to support regulatory and committee requirements.
  • Operate at a senior level, engaging with the executive committee (ExCo).
  • Lead the Centre of Excellence (COE) for ER, driving strategic initiatives and managing direct reports.

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in employee relations and HR policy development.
  • Experience in maintaining and evolving HR policies to support cultural and transformational goals.
  • Legal background with experience in reporting and compliance matters.
  • Senior-level experience, capable of operating at ExCo level.
  • CIPD membership preferred; strong knowledge of ACAS guidelines.
  • Analytical and methodical approach to handling ER cases and policy development.
  • Proven ability to work independently, handling individual consultations without works councils or employee groups.
  • Experience in managing projects such as TUPE and offshoring is desirable.
